Horizontal Auger Boring

Auger boring is a well established means of trenchless installation for on – grade crossings utilizing steel casing when ground settlement of any kind is not permitted. By continuously supporting the excavated ground with steel casing pipe, the possibility of lost ground is diminished. Boring in hard rock and granite ranging to 35,000 psi can also be accomplished with this method.

Guided Boring

The Guided Boring (GBM) method installs pipes with greater grade and alignment precision than traditional auger boring. Guidance systems are employed in conjunction with auger boring equipment to more precisely control the line and grade of the installed pipe or casing string. UIT utilizes both pilot tube, as well as hydraulically controlled steering heads, for extremely precise auger boring installations. Utilizing this methodology, we have successfully installed critical line and grade bores to distances over 600 feet in length.
